There is a common saying that “you don’t know what you have until you lose it”. I did not truly value my senses of smell and taste until I could not smell and taste for two weeks. There was nothing exciting or pleasurable about eating. I only ate to fill my stomach. My nose and tongue were existing without fully fulfilling their purpose. 

Matthew 5:13-16 came to mind while reflecting on this experience. Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV) says:

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

We are not meant to just exist. God wants us to spice up our world. We were created to make a difference, like salt in food and light in the darkness. We were created to reveal God’s glory (Isaiah 43:7). When God’s glory is revealed, the world cannot help but glorify the Father. We cannot accomplish God’s purpose for our lives by merely existing. We must be people of influence.

Do you feel worthless? God sees you as worthy. He created you for His glory. Please meditate on Isaiah 43:7. You are valuable to God and humanity. God is the light in you. Let God shine through you. 

Do you feel like you have no purpose or reason to continue living? Reading this plan in this moment is a reminder that God has created you for a unique purpose and your life has value.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I believe you created me for your glory and my life is precious to you. Help me to see and understand your unique purpose for my life. I want to be salt and light here on earth. Help me to fulfill your purpose for my life. In Jesus‘ name.
