Covered in My Womb: Part 2

DAY 1 OF 5

Vain is the Help of Man

While returning from a covid-19 testing center, I saw several signs urging anyone feeling sick to stay at home. I never thought there would be a time people would be advised to stay at home when sick. Being sick means help is needed. Yet, we are advised to stay home because the help of man is limited.

After testing positive for covid-19, my prenatal appointments were canceled by my birthing hospital, there was no medication to offer complete pain relief, and my pregnancy placed a limit on medical prescriptions. I was told to call 911 if my condition worsened, and no employee from the hospital called to check on my progress.

My family found comfort in Jehovah—the God whose power is not limited. We looked to God to take care of me and the child in my womb. We looked to God for wisdom and strength.

These situations remind me of Psalm 108:12 KJV:

“Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man”

God is the only one who can help us. He works through people, but we must not look to humans as our source of help. Humans are channels of blessings and help.

Unlike humans, God’s help cannot be exhausted—He has no limits. God cannot be overwhelmed by our needs. He is God over the heavens and the earth, yet He is not too busy to answer anyone who calls upon Him.

Psalm 50:5 says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

God has extended an invitation for us to call upon Him and He has assured us of deliverance. Are you in trouble? Call upon God. Has the doctor written off your case? God has not written you off. Call upon God. Have you lost your job while expecting a baby? Call upon God. He will deliver you from all your trouble
