SEAL

Ephesians 1:13-14 says, “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”

When you believed Jesus and received salvation, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit! This is a promise that God is always faithful to! The Holy Spirit is the guarantee of your salvation. That word, seal, means:

• “to set a seal upon, mark with a seal, to seal (for security: from Satan)”
• “to set a mark upon by the impress of a seal or a stamp”
• “to confirm authenticate, place beyond doubt”

Because Scripture says the Holy Spirit is a seal, He carries the authority, value, and reveals that we are marked by Him to ourselves and others.

When a king sends a letter, he stamps his royal seal on it to show others the authority that the contents of that letter carry and that it belonged to him. There was an honor, a value, assigned to the letter and what it carried. The same is true when we are filled and sealed with the Holy Spirit. There is a value to honor the seal we are marked with! This is the Holy Spirit in your life! When you have His seal, you are His. God wants to you to be confident that you belong to Him and He does this through the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 says, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” The Holy Spirit is our guarantee that we are in relationship with God, we are His sons and daughters, and He authenticates us to become more like Jesus!

Pray: Thank you Holy Spirit for being my security, my guarantee, my seal. Because of this, I know I belong to God and get to be with You forever. Holy Spirit, I thank You for marking me with Your Presence and setting me a part. By Your seal, You remove any doubt of who I belong to. I declare again today, Lord I belong to You! Holy Spirit, make me more like Jesus. Set Your seal on me in a fresh way today. Amen.
