RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Mercy Culture exists to take people from corporate encounters with God to daily personal encounters with God. Daily personal encounters are where we intentionally set apart time each day to connect with God. In daily encounters, God meets us with His presence, which is made possible through the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is God, one of the three persons in the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit).

In Acts 19, we learn that there’s a difference between your initial salvation through Jesus and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Paul encounters a group of believers who had not received or even heard of the Holy Spirit when they first came to believe. As Paul teaches them what it means to believe in Jesus, they were immediately baptized in the name of Jesus! Then it says, “When Paul laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied” (Acts 19:6). This group of men were believers, but had no knowledge of who the Holy Spirit was. Then, the Holy Spirit came on them and they were filled with the Spirit! The same thing happens for us when we come to know the Holy Spirit.

Have you received the Holy Spirit?

The evidence of the Holy Spirit infilling you is through speaking in tongues and prophecy (Acts 19), power (Acts 1:8), the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5), being led by the Spirit (Romans 8), transformation (Titus 3:4-6), and freedom (2 Corinthians 3)! Stop right now and ask the Lord if any of these are evident in your life. If you have received the Holy Spirit, ask Him what area of your life you haven’t surrendered to Him. Repent, yield to His leading, and meditate on Romans 8 and Galatians 5. If you have not yet received the Holy Spirit, pray right now to receive Him in His fullness!

Pray: Holy Spirit, I give you the entire room. I surrender my thoughts, will, desires, and emotions to You. I open my heart to receive the fullness of what Jesus died for in my life. Holy Spirit, come and fill me. I want the evidence of You and Your work in my life! I surrender all control to You! I receive You, Holy Spirit. Fill me!

Thank You for coming. Teach me Your ways that I may know You and find Your favor! In the name of Jesus, I pray this, amen.
