THE HOLY ANOINTER

The Spirit of the Lord was upon Jesus for a very specific task. You might want to read Luke 4:18-20. We are now the body of Christ on the earth and we are anointed, as the church to continue this great work.

Additionally, we can be individually anointed to carry out our part of this mission. Do you know what you are anointed to do as a person who has the Kingdom of God within you?

Know that God has wired you in a certain way, with certain gifts and personality, so when you get into the place you were designed for, there is an anointing. Some people are anointed for business - everything they touch works, some people are anointed to teach - they are the teachers we all remember, some people are anointed for leadership in the workplace, some to be great parents, some people are anointed for hospitality - when you go to their homes they make you feel so loved and cared for. Anointing doesn't only exist in the church- in fact, in the Old Testament when we see the people anointed it is usually Kings or Judges, people who had the task of leading and governing people. Most of Jesus' ministry existed outside of the temple and synagogues.

If we see the anointing that is on us, only within the church setting, most of us are missing how God could anoint us in our workplaces, in our families, and in our communities.

The famous English runner Eric Lidder said "when I run I feel his pleasure". What do you do that you experience the pleasure of God when you do it? What do you see yourself being incredibly effective at - that may be beyond your natural skills and maybe something that God has anointed you for?

"The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim the good news to the poor" - Luke 4:18

Prayer Point: God, please reveal what we are anointed to do in our workplaces, in our families, and in our communities. Help us to steward the anointing upon us to bring the kingdom; faith, hope and love, justice and mercy, wherever we go.
