Through the Bible: Job

DAY 6 OF 10

I Shall Come Out As Gold

…He tests me, and I shall come out as gold.

Job 23:10 (ESV)

While Job cannot find God, he believes that God will see that he has not followed the ways of the wicked. Job sees his suffering as a test. His ‘friends’ criticize him, but he correctly concludes this trial will result in a more authentic and closer relationship with God. Are you being tested right now? The trial of your faith is much more precious than gold (1Peter 1:7). In a fire, you get rid of the alloy and impurities by putting gold in the crucible and applying great heat so that only the pure gold remains. Riches are only temporary. However, faith is eternal. The trust element in our faith needs developing so that as we pass through trials, we can say with confidence, “I know that behind the clouds, the sun is there!”

Prayer

Father God, we are Your children. Thank You for bringing us into Your family, for shaping us into the likeness of Your son, Jesus. We so need Your grace to hold on to in our trials. We believe You are working this in us for our good. Amen.
