I moved to Dallas several years ago to accept a corporate promotion. Afterwards, I noticed that my cell service had become so inconsistent! I had dropped calls, missed texts, and static. A friend who worked for one of the telecommunications companies headquartered in Dallas told me that if I wanted great service, I needed to switch my service to the company that she worked for because their signal was strong in Dallas. Once I did that, everything worked perfectly!

You’ve elevated to a higher level, and now, a different level of service is required. But though you’ve elevated, you’re still dealing with the same interruptions and interference that you used to deal with. It’s time to upgrade your plan.

Interference—It’s the natural opposition to consistency. Interference hinders action because when you’re supposed to take action, but you don’t, it leads to confusion. When you’re supposed to take action, but you can’t, it leads to a lack of progression. 

Today and tomorrow, we’re going to look at two common reasons we experience interference and identify how to overcome them.

Common Interference #1: Not giving God His full glory

Interference is introduced into our spiritual walk when we don’t acknowledge and honor God in everything we do. We may think, “I don’t do that,” but how many times have we done it unintentionally— by looking to outside sources for answers instead of God Himself? 

God wants us to come to Him for what we need, but if it seems like it’s not happening on our timetable, it’s easy to get impatient and seek answers outside of Him. We have to remember, in John 14:6, Jesus told Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” 

When we look to other sources first, we bypass God and forfeit the benefits we would experience if we just waited on God and submitted our goals through Him. 

If we are truly counter the hustle culture and are interested in God’s opinion, Romans 12:2 tells us that we are supposed to look different from the world. Our minds are supposed to operate differently from the culture. 

When you choose to honor God by waiting on Him and His solutions, you’ll get the answer you need. You’ll be able to go through Jesus to get to your solution!
