You Are Valuable

Beyond not having enough food to go around, Kiwi’s family couldn’t pay their rent, resulting in them needing to move often. Kiwi lost close loved ones to treatable medical conditions because they didn’t have the money to pay for treatment. The pain of poverty surrounded Kiwi, often leaving her feeling as if she had no value.

In Day 1, you learned that you are God’s masterpiece, beautiful in his eyes. Here’s a question for you to ponder today: How much is a masterpiece actually worth?

The most expensive painting ever sold, Leonardo da Vinci’s “Salvator Mundi,” cost $450.3 million dollars. Yes, $450.3 million. And you know his “Mona Lisa”? It’s estimated to be worth around $850 million dollars.

While the paintings are beautiful, how could they be worth so much? The answer: There’s only one. Each masterpiece is unique, which makes it precious and of great value.

Here’s another truth: You, too, are unique, precious and of great value to God. And you’re worth so much more than a large sum of money.

1 Peter 1:18 and 19 (NIV) say that we were not redeemed by things like silver or gold. Instead, Jesus saved us from our sins through his precious blood. We were bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20, NIV) so much greater than any earthly piece of art could ever be worth.

Jesus gave up his life for you. You’re so incredibly valuable to God that he sent his son to save you so that you may find eternal life in him (John 3:16, NIV).

There’s more good news — He values us all this way! God does not show favoritism (Romans 2:11, NIV). He loves the famous and the unknown. The rich and the poor.

Although Kiwi lived in such devastating poverty, God never took his eyes off her. While she was one of millions, he cared so much for her that he orchestrated her rescue. He cares for all of us in this way!

Remember: It doesn’t matter what the world says about you — God sees you as his special possession (1 Peter 2:9, NIV). You are valuable and so greatly cherished, right where you are.
