Jesus Said About How to Be Witnesses

DAY 5 OF 8

God's design for us and our rebellion against God

God had a perfect plan for our lives. We, however, rejected Him by becoming disobedient and rebellious. We turned our back to God. We started to live according to our own understanding and will. We wanted a life without restrictions. The Bible calls this sin. The result of sin was the distortion of God's original plan for our lives. Our sins had some deadly and devastating consequences.

Second circle: The results of our rebellion

Through our rebellion, we rejected God's plan for us. We now live in a broken world full of pain, sin, hopelessness, death, corruption, loneliness, rejection, and addiction.

All of us try to do things to escape from this brokenness: money, immoral behaviour, position, drugs – but none of these things satisfy – all of them eventually lead to more brokenness and devastation.

The small arrows indicate that we want to get out of brokenness by doing many things, like drinking, drugs, getting rich, immoral behaviour, etc.)

Nothing we do can make us better or holy enough to be restored to God. Nothing can make us accepted by God and brought back to His design for our lives. The punishment, the result of sin, is death.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a.).

They exchanged the truth for a lie (Romans 1:25).

You must read the previous paragraphs again and again. Give careful attention to the Scripture references. Memorise them or memorise at least the references.
