Why Is Jesus the Savior?

DAY 4 OF 4

We have reached the last day! Congrats on making it to the end of this plan. It has been awesome writing God’s word on our hearts and minds together.

Yesterday we looked at the evidence God gave for the Jews to be able to recognize and believe in Jesus. Jesus is the Savior because he fulfilled the prophecies, including his death on the cross for the sins of the world, and proclaimed their fulfillment. This was the clear evidence that he was the one God was working through. This is how we can defend our faith as those who profess the name of Jesus.

Throughout the Bible, the prophecies are God's way of promising what will happen in the future so that when it happens His people can believe. If we already believe in Jesus, then why is understanding how God works through prophecy also important for us? At the time of the first coming, the work Jesus accomplished wasn’t just the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies concerning him. He came to establish a new covenant, giving us a new promise. The four gospels and the book of Revelation contain those prophecies from Jesus about His return and about the completion of God’s work. As believers, we can have hope in these promises because they will also be fulfilled.

Even though the plan has come to an end, I pray we can both continue to seek more of God through His word and learn more about the promises He has given to us!

Preview of our next devotional, if Jesus came according to the Old Testament prophecies concerning him, why was it difficult for many Jews to believe in Jesus as the savior? After seeing how God works through prophecy, why is that important for us? Please look for our next daily devotional on Why God's chosen people rejected Jesus.
