She Is Redeemed: The One Encounter That Changes Everything

DAY 4 OF 8

Day 4: Don't Want To Thirst Anymore

The Samaritan woman said, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty" (John 4:15). The Samaritan woman in this encounter must’ve felt that this encounter at this point was a chance at something new. In this scripture, you can tell she was crying out for saving from her current circumstances. She did not want to be the same. She did not want to thirst anymore for those things that did not nourish her soul but she wanted something more and that was with Jesus. We all reach a point when we long for something different, something better than what we've known. We want to be free from our pain and emptiness. My heart resonated with this when I yearned for deliverance from my past traumas. I had a season of my life where it felt that every good thing I had going for me such as relationships, opportunities, etc., were tarnished because of the lack of healing I had from my past trauma. And in that season I prayed and asked God to deliver me from my past and trauma and He did! Accepting God's living water means finding freedom from our old ways. We become captivated by His peace and no longer thirst for our former lives. Today, ask God to reveal the heart posture you need to fully embrace Him and His gift.

Reflection: Think about a moment in your life when you longed for a change, a moment when you realized you were thirsty for something more. Reflect on how that thirst led you to seek God.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for the heart posture that will help me fully accept Your gift. May I no longer thirst for my old life, but instead be captivated by Your peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
