Day 3: Next Steps

If you already have men in your life who are willing and able to be that role model for your son, that is fantastic! Have a conversation with them and explain what you are looking to provide for your son, and they will understand exactly what you mean.

If you don’t have anyone you know, then there are some important next steps you need to take. The first one is to pray. Just like Hannah prayed to the Lord for what she needed, you need to do the same. God already knows what you need anyway. Your prayer of faith might be the key to unlocking that blessing of a Godly man influence in your son’s life.

The second step is to expose your son to as much about God as possible as early as possible. God partners with people, but God is not dependent on any one of us to accomplish His will on this earth. So if there is no Godly man immediately available, you do not have to wait because everything your son needs to know will be found in His Word.

There are tons of Bible devotionals for kids, teens, and young adults alike in this app on the subject of Godly manhood. I wrote one for teens and older called “Man of Fire.” There are also many sources on YouTube and in local churches. The more your son knows about God, the more of a man he will become.

You might be tempted to think, “If all those resources are available, then I don’t need a Godly man around; I can just provide the resources instead.” The better question is, why not provide both? It will give your son the best opportunity to be who God created him to be.

Time and time again in scripture we see men teaching other men how to follow God. Today’s verses will show examples of that. Nothing will set your son up for success more than hearing the Word of God from his mom whom he loves, and then having those lessons reinforced and displayed in a man he respects.

Hang in there, mom. You have a large burden on your shoulders, but you are not alone. Keep turning to God because He is with you.
