Knock Knock, Who's There?Sample

Knock Knock, Who's There?

DAY 3 OF 3

Life is a journey filled with a beautiful collection of experiences—some joyful, some challenging, and some downright transformative. These experiences have the power to shape how we perceive ourselves and ultimately, our identity. While they can be influential, it is crucial to remember that our identity is meant to be found in Christ, in spite of the temptation to find it in our life's experiences.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that when we are in Christ, we become new creations. Our past experiences no longer define us; they are overshadowed by the transformative power of Christ's love and grace! Yet, it can be easy to allow our past experiences, especially the difficult ones, to dictate our identity.

Perhaps you've faced moments of rejection, failure, or hurt that have left deep scars on your heart. These experiences can ultimately lead to a distorted self-image, causing you to question your worth and value. It's during these times that we must turn to Scripture and the Lord to anchor our identity. That is the only place where the wisdom of this world won’t have the opportunity to speak a different word.

The path to discovering your identity in Christ amid life's experiences begins with surrender. Release the burdens of your past into His capable hands, allowing His healing grace to mend the wounds and reshape your identity. Romans 8:28 assures us, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Even the most painful experiences can be used by God to mold you into the person He intended you to be.

Remember that your identity in Christ will always be defined by His love and acceptance. Romans 8:38-39 reassures us, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." No experience can separate you from God's unfailing love.

Life's experiences can undoubtedly impact our sense of self, but they do not have the final say on our identity! Our identity is rooted in Christ, who makes us new creations and bestows upon us His boundless love and grace. Let go of the past, lean into His Word, and allow His love to define who you are. In Christ, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and nothing in this world can change that.
