Growing Our Church Family Part 3Sample

Growing Our Church Family Part 3

DAY 4 OF 5

WALK TOGETHER

At some in our journey as a follower of Jesus we might find ourselves doubting and questioning, some of us might find ourselves slipping back into old patterns, falling away from the kind of life Jesus calls us to live. Our reading from today reminds us to “take care” so as to not slip away, but to stay the course. This passage also calls the church – the family of believers – to walk together and encourage each other.

Life is hard and we’re often faced with trials and tribulations that bring us to our knees. It is impossible to get through the hardships of life alone. God’s design for us as His children is that we would come to rely on our brothers and sisters in Christ to walk alongside us. He created us to walk together.

The scriptures we’ve read this week all point us to a church family. As a family we need to be in relationship with one another. Families that are strong, even if distance comes between them, still stay in relationship with each other.

Ask Yourself:

-What are the key components of any good relationship?

-How can you be in relationship with your church family?

Pause to Pray for the Church:God, may this local church grow to look more and more like a family. Families are hard. Families are messy. People are hard and messy! But, you died for all the hard and the messy and you sent your Spirit to lead us through every hard mess to something better. Lead us and teach us to love and serve one another…

Take a Next Step into Christian community: Maybe you are already connected to your church family, but maybe you’ve been hesitating. How will you step toward relationship? A class? A small group? A coffee date with someone who might mentor you? Take a brave step!
