How to Handle the Crossroads of LifeSample

How to Handle the Crossroads of Life

DAY 5 OF 6

Lessons from the Life of David at a Crossroad

One of the major crossroads in David's life was when he fought Goliath. That victory brought him to the limelight; it validated his anointing and the presence of God in his life. Though he was seventeen years old at the time, killing Goliath brought David out of obscurity and it was the beginning of his journey to the palace.

Just like David, the crossroads in our life may often come in the form of battles or challenges. Don’t run away from them. God is good, but we will likely have many unpleasant experiences in life. We have to face our Goliath. The beauty of David's story is that his weapon was unconventional compared to his opponent. It defies logic that a sling and five stones would kill a giant like Goliath. It had to be so for it to be evident there was a Higher Power at play. God needed someone courageous enough to stand up to the bully and David was at just the right place at the right time.

All his life David had been in the desert watching after the sheep, but after confronting Goliath, all of a sudden, see what happens,

1Samuel 18:6-7 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres. As they danced, they sang: “Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands.”

And just like that, a shepherd boy's name is placed side-by-side with a king, and the fight probably takes less than an hour. You don't need to win all life battles; one major victory can bring you to the fore. Beloved, I don’t know the crossroad you are in right now, but I know this, if you are not dead, then God is not done. Your best days are not behind you; they are ahead of you. You still have the fight in you. Victory is still possible. Hold on and hold tight, you will come to the other side of this pain, and the enemy won’t have the last laugh.

When you are at a major crossroads in life that poses a challenge, remind yourself of Zechariah 4:7, “What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground."

Remember, the test of your strength is in the struggles you survive. The Bible says, "If you fail in the days of adversity, your strength is small." Be strong and courageous. You will overcome.
