The Greatest Helper, the Holy Spirit Guides, Strengthens and Comforts Believers

DAY 2 OF 10

The Holy Spirit guides into all truth.

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:16-17)

The Lord Jesus had told His disciples a lot about His Kingdom. He had explained much to them, and over the years their understanding had grown. But there was also much they still didn't understand, such as Jesus' impending suffering and death. In Luke 18, Jesus has told them for the third time what will happen to Him, and yet we read, “they understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said“ (Luke 18:34). In John 16, Jesus says He will return to His Father in heaven, and this fills the disciples with sorrow. In that context, Jesus says, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).

Therefore, He will send “the Spirit of truth,” who will make the disciples grasp the truth surrounding Jesus and His Kingdom at the right time. Only then will they also be receptive to learn about “the things that are to come” (John 16:13).

What patience and love speaks from Jesus' words! By His Spirit He guides people into truth, step by step. Will you let Him guide you?
