"Straining Forward"

Often times we pray scripture as a means of thanksgiving to the Lord. Other times, we pray God's Word to ask for his blessing in our lives. Today sisters, let's use this passage as a confession of sin to our Holy God, and ask for more of Him while we're at it. Join me?

Oh Lord, too often we walk as enemies to the cross of Christ, with our minds set on earthly things. Our hunger for worldly things drives our attitudes and our actions. Forgive us.

Lord, show us how to forget what lies behind us a life of destruction and false idols. Teach us to strain forward to what lies ahead: the prize of the upward call of you in your Son. Lead us.

Give us perseverance, Father, as we await the arrival of the Savior, who will transform our earthly bodies into glorious bodies like his own. We claim your promise that Christ will make us beautiful and whole, putting everything as it should be. Change us.

Remind us, Father, that our citizenship is in Heaven with you, and let us never forget it.
Amen.
