Points of View: Jairus and the Bleeding Woman

DAY 6 OF 6

We have examined this story from the perspective and with all the possible emotions of those involved.

But there is one more perspective. -- Ours.

By studying the story closely, we can find so much more than we ever knew existed.

Jairus was well respected in the community and walked right up to Jesus. The woman was an outcast who was scared to be seen.

Jairus' daughter was 12 years old, and he did not want to lose her. Twelve years was not enough time. The woman had been suffering from a disease for 12 years and needed it to go away. Twelve years was far too long.

They both got bigger miracles than they sought. Jairus saw his daughter raised from the dead in the privacy of his home while the woman was healed physically and restored in front of a crowd.

They each had the opportunity to grow, even if that took each of them from their comfort zones. Jairus got the opportunity to step back and wait while someone else was blessed. This had to be uncomfortable for many reasons, but in the end, Jairus saw that someone else's blessing did not take away from his own. The woman got the opportunity to step forward and present herself when it would have been far more comfortable to slip quietly away. In the end, she received more than she ever expected.

Jesus met them both exactly where they were. He gave them both exactly what they needed when they needed it. He saw them. He saw the desperation of a dad, and he proved to him that nothing was impossible. He saw the fear and loneliness of a woman, and he made sure everyone knew she was whole.

And He sees you. He knows your need. And even if it seems everyone else is getting their miracle when you so desperately need one, this story shows us that your miracle will never be too tough or too late. We can praise God for what He is doing in someone else's life, knowing He will do the same in our lives at the perfect time.

We are His sons and daughters. And we don't have to be afraid. We just need to believe.
