God Over Everything

DAY 2 OF 5

Drugs

Day in and day out, it seems like drugs are more ever-present everywhere we look. Over-the-counter drugs, pharmaceuticals, and illicit drugs are on the streets. No matter what type of drug it is or the reason for using it, caution must be advised due to the ability drugs have to alter your thinking and perspective.

One mistake many people make in life is fully trusting in the use of drugs to deliver them from hardships, such as broken-heartedness, chronic health problems, or struggles with acceptance.

The Apostle Peter warns us to be alert and sober-minded because our adversary, the devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. The world has foolishly made the use of illicit drugs and the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs socially acceptable. Peter challenges us to be wise because our enemy can use what we may think is a harmless recreational activity to trap us in sin.

The Bible also reminds us that we have a great High Priest who calls us to approach His throne boldly and confidently to receive the mercy and grace necessary to help us in our time of need.

Many things in life, such as drugs, can become an idol if you’re not careful! Always remember idols are NOT needed when you have God. He’s jealous for you and longs to have your attention. He wants you to seek Him and keep Him near on this journey we call life.

Deep Reflection:

Has your trust in drugs taken the place of Faith in God?
