As a Man Thinketh Sample

As a Man Thinketh

DAY 3 OF 3

'Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!' 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

This is day three and our final day together. I have one more challenge to send your way. However, before we get into it, let's review.

Day 1 was all about waking up early. Create the time and space in the morning to set up your day for a win. Your mental fortitude starts here with a simple discipline.

Day 2 was all about meditating. Once you wake up before the sun, it's time to put the right fuel inside of your mind. What you think about is what you will become. So, build your mind with scriptures and affirmations. Create a mental pathway for your dreams and goals.

Ok, next up is our Day 3 discipline, and it's called "move".

It's time to get that temple God gave you moving. It's time to create motion so you can create the right emotions.

The single greatest creator of energy in my life stems from working out.

I work out in the morning. And yah, those first 5-10 minutes are TERRIBLE.

I MEAN - TERRIBLE!

However, the rewards and progress far outweigh the initial discomfort.

The discomfort and the discipline CHANGED my life.

I want my life and body to "bring glory to God."

I want the Holy Spirit to "live and dwell inside of me."

I want to take care of the investment (my body) God has given to me.

As a Man Thinketh is all about fortifying your mind and building your own mental blueprint.

Here are a few mental health benefits from working out.

  • Reduce depression and anxiety. (Psychology Today)
  • Decreased stress. (Harvard Journal)
  • Increased self-esteem and confidence. (Stanford Medical)
  • Better sleep. (Harvard Journal)
  • Brain boost. (American Psychological Association)

I don't know about you, but I need EVERY one of these benefits listed.

What I love about the list above is how aligned it is with God's Word. Everything that happens while working out can be stacked with God's Word.

Let me show you.

Problem: Depression and Anxiety.
Solution: Philippians 4:6-7

'Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Problem: Stress
Solution: James 1:2-4

'Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing. ' James 1:2-4

Problem: Self Esteem and Confidence
Solution: Joshua 1:9

'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ' Joshua 1:9

Problem: Sleep
Solution: Proverbs 3:24

'When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. 'Proverbs 3:24

Problem: Brain / Thoughts
Solution: Romans 12:2

'And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. ' Romans 12:2

I know Day 3 is running long but I want to give you a final BONUS challenge.

The challenge is to fast negative thinking for 24 hours. Whatever the negative thought maybe, you have to reject and replace.

Let me give you an example of what this looks like.

Thought: You're not good enough. Your business will never make it.
Affirmation: I am good enough and I can do all things through Christ.

Thought: You can never get that job or that client.
Affirmation: Anything is possible to those who believe. I will put in the work and trust in the Lord.

Thought: You always start but never finish. You can't do it.
Affirmation: I am learning and growing every day. Past performance is not indicative of future results. I count my trials as joys.

FINAL THOUGHT

Yes, this is our final thought together. I've included several questions to ask yourself. Take the time with yourself. Ask the hard questions. Continue to build your mental blueprint.

Below is the final thought to consider ...

Move out of your comfort zone.

What is something you can do right now to move out of your comfort zone?

What are you afraid of?

Why are you afraid of it?

Can you see what's on the other side of your fear?

When was the last time you did something out of your comfort zone?

What did that feel like?

Identify the friends who get you out of your comfort zone (in a good way).

PRAYER

God, help me today.

Give me the wisdom I need.

The humility to ask for help.

The friends to help me face my fear.

I want your will for my life.

I want a mind of Christ.

Show me how I can walk confidently.

I need you now.

Love you.

About this Plan

As a Man Thinketh

I failed miserably at controlling my thoughts until I understood this basic daily framework. What you think about is what you become. If you're not happy with your thoughts (like I was), let me share with you some daily ...
