Faith - You Gotta Have It Sample

AN ATMOSPHERE OF FAITH

I’ve got three amazing kids. One of my favourite things to do with them is to watch their faces when I catapult them into the air on a seesaw. You know the type? The old-school ones, kind of dangerous... you don’t see them in the playgrounds much these days.

I’ve been thinking about this again as we have been unpacking this idea of faith. Faith has the power to shift atmospheres; it lifts and changes things. Like the seesaw at the old playground, when I put my weight or my intention on one end – it lifts someone on the other end.

I can lift a situation, a challenge or even another person with the faith I bring.

The Bible says in John 10:10 that we have an enemy who is out to steal, kill, and destroy. It also says that Jesus came to give us life. So, when we face tests and trials, we have a weapon – that is our faith.

Our faith is a weapon that we can use to counterattack the plans of the enemy. We serve a mighty and magnificent God, and our faith is in him. Faith in our God is a mighty weapon to see atmosphere change, to see breakthrough for ourselves and others.

Don’t simply accept the diagnosis. That seemingly unbreakable sin, that unsaved family member, that lack of peace in your home, that lie from the enemy... counterattack with your faith. How can we counterattack? By speaking and declaring the Word of God.

One of my boys was waking in the night regularly with nightmares. We were trying everything! Giving him medicine, waking him fully, hoping for the best... but nothing was working. Then we started to counterattack. We began to pray and plead the blood of Jesus over him, laying hands on him, interceding for him. Eventually he would lay down and sleep as if nothing had happened. Slowly, over about 6 months, we saw a massive change... and now it has been almost 12 months without waking up. Our faith in God changed the atmosphere!

It can be easy to let a little bit of faith leak, but our key verse for today says we are not to shrink back! Step forward, counterattack, believe for more. Change the atmosphere with your faith today.
