Finding Hope in Job

DAY 4 OF 5

Our Redeemer Lives

We can look at Job and empathise with his suffering, but during our most difficult days, we must remember that Jesus endured worse. Jesus was fully abandoned by those He loved.

We’ve seen Job’s three friends come to his aid as they engage in a dialogue about why this turmoil has come upon him… and they come to the general conclusion that Job must have sinned in order to be receiving this heavy consequence. Basically saying, their ‘redeemer’ was only for good people, people who are not really bad sinners. But that’s so different to the story of our real Redeemer.

In 1 Timothy 1:15 the apostle Paul wrote, ‘Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst.’ Job, despite all the troubles that came His way, had a Redeemer. He knew it. Job grasped that one day the One great mediator he needed would appear.

From the beginning of God’s Word to the end, God is seen as the Redeemer of His people. Even in Job’s lowest moment he stakes his faith on the fact that God is also his ultimate redeemer.

Believe this day OUR REDEEMER LIVES.
