For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 

This truth reminds me of the way powerful X-Rays, MRI, and CT-scan machines work. They make use of light waves to expose the innermost part of our bodies when we position ourselves before them. God’s Word is the most powerful lightwave exposing the root causes of our problems and actions, what drives our motives, and the hidden agendas that we have. 

Whenever I study the Bible, I position myself to hear from God and ask the Holy Spirit to help me see myself in the light of God’s Word. When I read about Jezebel, Esau, Samson, and other Biblical characters who fell from grace or disobeyed God, I ask the Holy Spirit to show me how I am walking in error as they did. This is one way I position myself under the most powerful lightwave- the Bible. 

Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV) says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Like David, we must intentionally submit to God’s Words. We must yield to this searching every time we study and meditate on the Word.

Do you want to know if your life choices are rooted in fear, comparison, trauma, unbelief, etc.? Get in the Word and like David, ask the Lord to search you and lead you. 

Do you want to understand your emotions and actions better? Position yourself under the powerful light of God’s Word.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word and the privilege to have free access to your Word. As I study and meditate on your Word,  open the eyes of my understanding in the name of Jesus. Let your Word mix with faith in my heart and open my eyes to behold wondrous things in your Word in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus, search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Thank you for answering my prayers.
