Darkness to Light: An Easter StorySample

Darkness to Light: An Easter Story

DAY 5 OF 7

After the darkness finally lifted, there was still a heavy gloom upon the earth. It was the darkest hour of humanity. Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken Me?”

Jesus was literally becoming our sin at that very moment. It seems that the fellowship of the Father and the Son was broken. This is incredible. It was not just the human suffering on the cross, but it was the anguish of being sin - the perfect, righteous Holy One becoming sin.

He became sin; He was made sin. He had no sin, but sin was put upon Him. When He died, He died for your sins and for mine because we couldn’t pay them. They pulled Him off the cross and laid Him into a rich man’s tomb, which was also predicted in the Old Testament.

They had heard His words that He would rise again. They did not want Him to rise again so they sealed the door with a big stone, a seal and a guard. For three days He stayed in the darkness of that tomb. Do you know what happened on that early Sunday morning? Some people went down to the grave, not to see if He had risen or not, but to anoint the body. They found the stone was rolled away. Then when they looked inside, they found an empty tomb!

The founders and leaders of all the religions of the world are dead; you can find their bones. Not Christianity, for Jesus rose again. Hundreds of people saw Him and then He ascended into Heaven. He is there today, living for His sheep. He is there for those who have put their faith in Him. Whenever you need something, you can ask. Go directly to the Father, and He will hear you because of Jesus Christ.

Satan’s head was dealt a death blow on the cross. He thought he had won. He thought he had crucified the Promised One predicted by all the prophets. Oh, my friends, Satan lost, and you and I won. Those that believe in Him, those who trust in Him, those who put their faith in Him have everlasting life. Amen!

Oh, my friends, from great darkness burst forth great Light! Rejoice, for He is risen indeed!
