Seven Types of Sabbath for Our Modern Culture!Sample

Seven Types of Sabbath for Our Modern Culture!

DAY 5 OF 8

Finding Emotional Rest

The flavor of faith is rest. To walk by faith can feel so wearying at times. Jesus promises us rest inside of our walk with Him that invites us to come to the table and actually taste of His rest. In Psalm 23, it speaks of the Lord being our good shepherd, that we shouldn’t be in want. It says that He leads us beside still waters and makes us lie down in green pastures and restores our souls. Later on in the Psalm, it speaks of Him making a table for us in the presence of our enemies. When we are in the middle of battle, He invites us to the table to partake of His rest.

This table is an all-inclusive rest that He made available to us, to actually win our wars/battles from rest. At the table, we are nourished and revived physically through feasting. We are seated at the table, and Scripture says that we are also seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus; so it reminds us that sitting at the table is a place of rest and of authority. We are seated at the table with the Father, so we remember who we belong to and therefore who we are in Him. We receive fellowship and enjoyment at the table and remember that the joy of the Lord is our strength.

So when we are worn out or weary from the battle we can remember that He has made a place for us at the table. And this isn’t just any table, it's the King’s table. We have victory from the seated place at the table, where we belong. It allows us to remember that we have rest on all sides, even in the midst of emotional turmoil or battle. They don’t have to own us, because He has made a place for us.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that You have made a table before me in the presence of my enemies; and, therefore, I have rest on all sides of my life. Thank You that You revive me when I am weary from battle and meet my every need, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Thank You for always sustaining me and leading me in victory. Help me to remember to sit down at your table whenever I get weary or overwhelmed in the battle. You truly know how to nourish me, so that I am revived in Your love.
