On the Road With Jesus to Christmas

DAY 6 OF 7

Christmas is not what you think it is

Christmas: The feast of lights, a Christmas tree, an extensive meal. Family gatherings. Wealth and abundance. It looks like almost everyone is taking part. And if there are people who cannot join, it is more the group being on the sidelines. The lonely, on the fringes of society.

But when we look at the reality of Christmas in today's video, we see a totally different picture. Jesus, the Saviour of the world, is not born in a palace, but in a stable. His mother is not a well-off person, but a poor girl. God does not have the news be heard in the big city, but in the fields, in the rear. And the people hearing it, the shepherds, were the dregs of society.

When the shepherds arrive at the birth of Jesus, they are so impressed that they spread the good news. But you do not read anywhere that others came looking for Jesus. Apparently, it was not interesting enough.

Christmas is not what we think it is. It is the beginning of God’s visible looking after the world. God gave his own son, no matter how difficult it is for us to understand. Jesus gave himself as a vulnerable young child in a manger. It was also difficult for Mary to understand. She kept everything in her heart to think about it later.

Perhaps it is time to get to know Jesus in this way. Immerse yourself in Him. God restarted history in a wonderful way.
