Practice Meditating on God’s Word

DAY 2 OF 7

Centered Around the LORD

A simple dictionary definition of meditation is to ‘think deeply about (something)’. Which means you already know how to meditate. The problem is – if you’re anything like I am – that such meditations revolve around ‘me’: ‘What must they think of me?’ ‘Did I lock the door?’ ‘How can I make my Zoom camera angle more flattering?’

Our minds are constantly thinking about me, me, me.

What a contrast when we read the meditation recorded in Psalm 104. Each thought starts, ‘He, He, He.’

Biblical meditation doesn’t delight in me. It isn’t centered around me. Biblical meditation writes God’s word on our hearts so that we want to spend all day, even all eternity, thinking deeply about Him.

To transform the thoughts of our hearts from ME to HE would need a miracle.

The great news is that God is in the business of working miracles. All we have to do is ask!

Biblical meditation starts by asking the Lord to forgive our ‘me, me, me’ thoughts, so that our thoughts and lives center around “He, He, He”.

Lord | Read Genesis 1 v 1 slowly and carefully. Ask the Lord to reveal how you have made this world all about you. Turn to Him for forgiveness and help to be able to truly say, ‘In the beginning, God…’ So that every thought, word and deed begins with God, is for God and is centered on God and His glory.
