DAY 3 OF 7

“I look to you, heaven-dwelling God, look up to You for help.” Psalm 123:1 The Message

Help, in this particular scripture, is the Greek word boetheia. The word picture is that of one, who upon hearing a cry for help, runs to give aid or to assist. Boetheia describes the assistance offered to meet a need. In secular Greek, the word was used to describe a medical aid or cure.

Our daughter was facing a major life-changing surgery, but it would not be a cure. It would not completely fix what needed to be fixed. It would be the best a surgeon could do.

Now, I know God is the ultimate physician. And at that time, I had been quoting and decreeing many healing scriptures over her. But of all the verses I had ever prayed over her, I had never used Psalm 123. I think God saved that revelation for me “for such a time as this” when I truly needed it.

Psalm 123:1 could read like this, “I look to You, heaven-dwelling God, look up to You for medical aid and the cure.”

Also Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help (boetheia) us in our time of need.”

God gently reminded me to look up and keep my gaze on Him, the One who has the medical aid and the cure.

I started reminding myself of who God is. I started declaring His healing power and ability. He spoke to me to look higher than the mountain we were facing and then He gave me a picture. The picture was very simple, yet so reassuring. The picture was of His hand resting on the mountain. In order for His hand to rest upon the mountain, He had to be higher. It was a simple, yet powerful reminder that He was higher and greater than any mountain we were facing.

Jeremiah 32:27(NIV), “I am the Lord. The God of all mankind. Is there anything too hard for me?”

No matter the situation or circumstance you may find yourself in, set your gaze on the One who is higher.
