What is God calling you to do to fulfill the purpose.

Whatever it may be, let me have a very honest moment with you. Some people will not support you! Some people you expect to support you will not. They may not show up, sell tickets, purchase the product, give helpful ideas, or donate to the cause. They may never listen to your advice, even if others pay for it. Familiarity breeds contempt. They may take for granted the fact that you do what you do so well and may not show any interest in it.

Expecting people to understand your assignment is unfair to God. He gave the assignment to you, and unless He has shown you that they are supposed to be connected to it, release them from the pressure of participating. God is trying to fill you with so many wonderful things, and one thing that can block blessings is bitterness.

When we are called to walk out the purpose and assignment with focus and dedication, there are some people who simply will not understand that calling. There will also be people who may seem to be supportive but are not always driven by the right motives. Ask God to reveal to you the heart intentions and motives of the people you are connected to. When you are a woman of assignment, you must pray for past, present, and future relationships to honor God’s direction and plans for your life.

Today, I want to give you permission to release those people who won’t support you so that you can focus and commit to completing the assignment God has given you.

Nehemiah did an amazing job at showing us what this looks like. He made God the center of his focus and devotion—even to the last sentence in verse 19, where he says, “Remember, O my God, all that I have done for these people, and bless me for it” (Neh. 5:19, NLT).

He doesn’t even expect to be repaid by any of the people he is helping. He knows God is the giver of all things good. In his world, no one owes him anything. He simply wants God to bless him when all is said and done.

You completing the assignment isn’t for the applause of others. It is for the applause of One. Nehemiah understood this, and we should as well. Our dedication is what allows the assignment to be completed for the greater purpose. We must be dedicated to an audience of One so that we can remain encouraged while completing the work.
