STRENGTH THROUGH THE SEASONS

It was over 30 degrees in my city one weekend. All of the city threw off its sludgy state and emerged with a spring in her step. Sales in sunscreen rocketed, bikinis came out of the bottom drawer and ice-cream vans became the focus of kids everywhere. Suddenly everything had changed!

Seasons change quickly, yet the weather forecasters remind us not to put away the woollens. 

Change is like that. Whether it’s a change of location, a new job or a change of relationship, it can be disorienting. One day the chilly wind bites; the next we’re out walking barefoot on the sand. The past and the future pull us in opposite directions leaving us feeling disoriented and confused.

In a time when everything is shifting around us, we need to focus on the truths that are constant. To trust more than ever in the One who doesn’t change. God is the maker of seasons and when He is leading our lives, we can be confident that the seasons He brings are good, and that, as the writer of Ecclesiastes says, He makes everything beautiful in its time.
