Cabin Fever

DAY 3 OF 3

A Privilege and a Responsibility

Easter is not a holiday. It's our identity.

When you really accept that fact in your soul as truth, the result that will be released into the world, and into your spirit, is joy. Joy results when you comprehend that the resurrection is not a day on a calendar, but an ever-present reality. Jesus is the resurrection, He is the life, and you will know that you’re living in the power of that resurrection when you walk in joy.

Jesus, before he ever went to the cross, basically said to his disciples, “You now have sorrow, for the worst thing that could ever happen to you is me being taken away, but when I'm given back to you in the Resurrection, you will be able to walk in joy–a joy that the world can't take because the world didn't give it to you.”

The world can take your home, steal your health, rob your money, and reclaim your car. But guess what? The world is not who gave you joy to begin with and thus can't take your joy. Your joy comes from Jesus. So why has God allowed this “cabin fever” to infect your life? Because he wants us to exhibit joy. He wants us to show the world what joy looks like.

Joy is not just a privilege. It's a responsibility. The kind of God-given joy unleashed on a life walks with the power of the resurrection. And that kind of joy—the joy that shines in a pandemic, sparkles in a cemetery, and gleams in an emergency room—is ours.

Never assume that because your life is full of pain that God isn’t there. For in His hands, suffering and glory always go together. And the greater the suffering, the greater the glory will be. With more pain comes more power. May God, through the Holy Spirit, give us the grace to suffer well, with joy flying as the flag over the castle of our hearts because the King of Kings lives here. Don't forget: Jesus is alive today.
