Lamb of God

DAY 6 OF 7

The Lion and The Lamb

The book of Revelation, chapter five, speaks of the Lion of Judah. Jesus is the Lion, but He is also the Lamb. It is the perfect combination, in Christ, of power and humility, frailty and power, and strength. The Scriptures say that there was a Lamb, who had seven horns and seven eyes, who looked slaughtered but was standing in the center of the throne. What does this mean? Well, horns symbolize authority. Jesus had seven horns because that is the number for completion. Three plus four equals seven. The number three symbolizes God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, also known as the Trinity. The number four symbolizes the earth, with north, south, east, west. When earth and God operate together, you have perfection. Jesus has perfect and complete authority. He is omnipresent and can see everything. He has a perfect and complete presence.

The verse says that the Lamb was standing. Have you ever seen a slaughtered animal stand? I do not believe anyone has. Usually, if an animal or person dies, they fall, they do not stand. Why do you think the Scripture says the Lamb is standing? Because the Lamb symbolizes the resurrected Christ. Jesus was slaughtered at the cross when He paid the price for our sins. He was buried and laid in a tomb with His lifeless body, but on the third day, He rose. This is why, in the book of Revelation, He is standing as the slain Lamb. Jesus is the Lion of Judah. He is the Lion and the Lamb, and He is standing in heaven.

Followers of Christ, I want you to be amazed by His powerful and eternal reign. His power is like a lion’s, and He is a Lamb who is standing, though He was slain. I want you to know that God can stand over your depression. He can stand over your addiction. He can stand over your impurities. He is not just a man who was slain on the cross. Two thieves died on the cross next to Him. He died on the cross and He rose again and is standing over you, pouring His forgiveness, love, and grace over your life. Receive it!
