Easter: If the Grave Could Talk

DAY 2 OF 6

You Better Worry

The days seem long, but the years are short. You aren’t getting any younger, are you? Your kids will soon be in high school, the wedding will be here before you know it, the bills have to be paid, doctors’ appointments have to be scheduled, the vacation will come and go, you will have to buy a new car soon… the list could go on and on. Time flies. “They grow up so fast. Don’t miss it,” my neighbors remind me as my kids play in the cul-de-sac. Doesn’t life just stress you out? You have an ongoing list to accomplish, a target for your 401k, and a few more years to prepare your child for the real world. Does your stress lead to anxiety and constant worry? What happens when you die? What will happen to the people around you? If the grave could talk, it would say, “You better worry and stress about today, because I am coming for you!”

But then there is Jesus, the man who defeated the grave. The conquering King who gave all of us hope. “Don’t worry,” Jesus whispers. “Think about the things from above.” Knowing the character and personality of Jesus should calm us. Jesus stared  death in the face, but believed in the promises of God. Jesus desires you to live a life of peace, joy and hope. His grave says, “Don’t worry.”

PRAY: “Jesus, help me worry less and think about your goodness more. Reveal your character and personality to me, so I can have a life of peace, joy and hope.”
