21 Days of Celebration

DAY 5 OF 21

Day 5

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalms 118:24 ESV

Question:

Should you discover that today would turn out to be the toughest of this year for you, would you celebrate God and his gift of life in it?

Application:

On the night before the crucifixion (the evening of the Last Supper), the scripture tells us that Jesus sang songs of thanksgiving to God along with his disciples. It is widely accounted that Psalm 118 was the final song within the section that they would sing in recital.

What an image we now see of this man on his way to giving his life as the ultimate substitution for the restoration of all the world!

Without us ever truly knowing, the assumption could very well be that this was going to be the toughest day of Jesus‘s life. Reflecting on the answer you gave to the question above, consider three practical ways that you can remind yourself on a daily basis to celebrate God as the psalmist did, regardless of the varying difficulties you may face throughout the day.

Prayer:

I choose to praise you and honour you and celebrate you, my good Father. Thank you for giving Jesus in my place so that today I can live with the awareness and the experience of being made right with you. Let my life always be a celebration of your goodness!
