How To Manage People's Perception Of YouSample

How To Manage People's Perception Of You

DAY 8 OF 8

I want to encourage you in your fight against sin. Sin is an ever-present force working against us, keeping our three selves separate. It moves our focus off the Lord.

Sin drives us back into three distinct people. It clouds our inner thought life, compels us to posture in front of people, and as a result confuses everyone’s perception of us.

So, if we want to alter people’s view of who we are, we need to begin our self-unifying process. This begins by repenting, and fully believing the Gospel – that Christ died to free us from sin, and rose to give us eternal life.

With the cross at the center of our being, we start using Christ’s words and emulating His actions. He comes alive in us even more. Our sin natures are absorbed by His perfect one.

May the Lord help us as we each fight against our own sinful wills. When we are victorious in His power over our desires, the actions of our third person will reflect this victory.

For it will not just be us people see. Lord willing, they will perceive a stronger presence.

May He work his desires into your heart, and then fulfill those desires as His purpose works itself out in your life. I pray you will desire to give Him your whole person, and let Him fill you with Himself.

Amen.

Review

Below is a simplified overview of the three selves:

1. First person – Who you really are on the inside; your thought-life

2. Second person – The public persona you try to project to the world

3. Third person – Who other people perceive you to be
