The Untamable Love of God

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3: 1)

God is the full expression of love. His love towards mankind is unlimited, unquantifiable and incomprehensible. He demonstrated it by not even sparing His own Son (Romans 8:32). He endured the agony of a cruel death (Philippians 2:8), drinking the full cup of the wrath of God in our place (Mark 14:36). God commends His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). 

The breadth, the length, the height, and depth of the love of Christ was expressed on the cross of His crucifixion where the worst of men were reconciled back to God. This love is so unreservedly extravagant that the vilest of sinners can now stand in the holy of holies without condemnation. God’s love is unlimited, unchanging, unending, and unmeasured. You don’t deserve it, cannot influence it, or earn it. This is because the love of God is God Himself. 

Food for Thought: God is love and in Him there is no fear of punishment. Where there is strife, jealousy, anger, unholy rivalry, hatred, grudges etc. can only mean one thing—the absence of God’s presence. Examine your life today and check if you are allowing the presence God in every area.

Action Point: Reflect the love of God by showing love to everyone around you whether they deserve it or not. 

Prayer Point: God, help me to be grateful for Your love and to demonstrate in my life that I serve a God of love. Allow others to see in me that your love is for the whole world and people around me.
