Simple, But Not Easy: Living The Truth Of The Gospel

DAY 2 OF 5

Living Truth

How do you live truth? Well, according to Paul, you start with the Gospel Itself and make sure you are actually saved, that you have actually accepted God’s free gift of salvation by putting your faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection and surrendering your life to follow Him in obedience.

The Holy Spirit, God Himself, lives in those who are saved, those who have made Jesus Christ their Lord. How do you know for sure that He lives in you?

You’ll just know.

First of all, you’ll be able to recall a moment when you quit trying to save yourself from the consequences of sin, put your faith and trust in the salvation God provided through Jesus’ death and resurrection, and committed your life to follow Him.

From that moment on, things would have been different. Your salvation experience may not have been earth shattering. You may not have even felt much emotion, but there would have been an awareness that something had changed, and in the days that followed, you would have experienced new patterns of thought and behavior beginning as the Holy Spirit started helping you discern good from evil, understand your Bible, and recognize the sin in your life for what it was. You would have found it at least a little easier to pray, felt drawn to the things of God instead of darkness, and felt discomfort when doing things that did not match up with God’s will and character.

Unless a willful pattern of disobedience has quieted the Holy Spirit inside you and made it hard for you to pray, if you are saved you’ll know it because the Holy Spirit will tell you it is true loud and clear.

How about you? Are you sure you are saved? When did it happen? Where? How? What difference has it made in your life?

Are you sure the people you are spending time with are saved? If pressed, could you tell their salvation stories?

Are the lines of communication between you and the Holy Spirit wide open? Why or why not?

What, if anything, needs to change? What would that look like?

Simple, But Not Easy: Living The Truth Of The Gospel

Although simpler and, in some parts of the world, less dangerous, living the life God calls us to isn’t any easier today than it was for early Christians. Thankfully, in the apostle Paul we have a skilled teacher who is ...
