Every conqueror gets victory after the battle. We get victory before the battle, therefore, we are more than conquerors. When you become a Christian, Jesus gives you authority and the power of Holy Spirit.
You are like a policeman in the spiritual world. A police officer has a badge which gives him authority, and a weapon which provides power to back up that authority. Criminals are afraid of officers, because of the authority and the power they carry. When you recognize that the authority and power has already been given to you over the Devil, the enemy panics. He is the criminal, you are the officer. You have the power of heaven backing you up.
We do not fight for victory, we fight from the position of victory. In the famous passage about spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6, Paul says to put on the armor of God “to stand"..
