God speaks to you

I want to pause and say this: God speaks to YOU! He is always speaking, whether you are aware of it or not. God speaks to each and every one of us in a unique way. Learning to recognise His voice and hear from Him will require you to spend time in the word, have a greater level of attentiveness, and practice the art of listening.

A lot of people tend to overthink hearing from God. It can become overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Personally, I often struggled to know whether it was just my own thoughts or if I was actually hearing the voice of God. I would listen to other people describe how they heard from God and automatically thought, that’s how He was meant to speak to me. I even managed to convince myself that if I didn’t hear God in the exact same way that they did, then He wasn’t speaking. I quickly learned that was simply not true. There could potentially be some similarities but I had to slowly understand that God spoke to me uniquely. 

First all, recognise that how God speaks to one person is not necessarily going to be the same way that He will speak to you. For that reason alone, you can’t compare or measure the frequency in which you hear from God with another person. Usually the only notable difference is practice and/or spiritual maturity. 

You have to rid yourself of any doubt that you have in this area and believe that God actually speaks to you and takes great delight in that. No matter what season you find yourself in, you can hear Him anytime and in any place. 

God speaks to us in various ways, such as: 

• Dreams 


• Open visions 


• A strong thought that comes to your mind  


• Audibly -it’s usually a familiar voice  


• A strong knowing or impression (some call this intuition) 


• Prompting: An urge and deep knowing 


• Inner visions (pictures)
