Warning: 2 Peter

DAY 2 OF 6

We All Need Reminders

Have you ever forgotten something that you should have remembered? You went to school and left your homework behind. You forgot to wish your best friend a happy birthday. You forgot to take the dog for a walk and he left you a nice surprise in your room. We all tend to forget things that we should remember. And the same is true in our faith. That’s why we need constant reminders. We all need to be reminded of the gospel and what is true! And in this passage, that’s exactly what Peter does.

He also reminds us that no story about Jesus could ever compare to actually experiencing Him. When you have an encounter with the risen Jesus Christ, it changes everything! So many of us settle for stories about Jesus. We listen to other people talk about how amazing Jesus is and the relationship they have with Him. And sadly, that seems to satisfy our desire to know Christ. It’s like hearing about a great restaurant from someone else but never actually eating there. Jesus wants more for us! He wants us to experience Him for ourselves!

Finally, Peter reminds his readers that the Bible is 100% legit. The words on the pages of God’s Word are not like the pages of your history book. They are inspired by God Himself! They are a work of the Holy Spirit that could not be accomplished by human hands alone. There is something powerful about the Word of God! So as you continue to read this plan, remember that the Bible is an unrivaled masterpiece and has the power to change your life forever. Enjoy the ride!
